Project Overview
Expedition Archive is a comprehensive world-building and speculative evolution project that explores the alien ecosystem of Velis Tor through the lens of a corporate field journal.
The entire intellectual property was intentionally built from a single seed: a solitary landscape painting of a massive cliffside frontier. What began as a standalone environmental study sparked a creative challenge—to build a completely cohesive, logically consistent planetary pipeline backward from a single visual asset.
Core Design Pillars
Systemic Consistency: Every asset—from the macro-logistics of the expedition down to modular hab units—functions under strict engineering constraints. Tech is limited and grounded in hard sci-fi physics.
Subversive Taxonomy: Environmental assets are focused on grounded speculative biology, intentionally challenging standard scientific classification.
Narrative Friction: The visual layout juxtaposes sterile, rigid corporate bureaucratic forms against raw, vulnerable, and handwritten human field logs.
Technical Execution & Production Pipeline
The entire multi-volume series was conceptualised, illustrated, and formatted natively on an iPad Pro using Procreate.
To bypass traditional desktop publishing software, precise printing page layouts and grid templates were engineered directly within the canvas by calculating exact pixel dimensions and utilising strict alignment constraints. Every page was designed as a standalone "in-universe" artifact, inviting the viewer to actively piece together a fragmented corporate archive.
